In His Presence..........

  Imagine a scenario where God is doing a work in a man’s life, by giving him counsel, or rebuke so that his life can ultimately change for the better, then someone comes along and frustrates God’s work by telling the man that what God is saying doesn’t really matter, and that he can carry on the way he is because no one is perfect. What this man has just done is scatter what God is doing. God is trying to put the man’s life back in order, but this other man is scattering what God is doing by sowing bad seeds through his advice and words. Brethren, are we gathering? or are we scattering? When we make negative confessions about our nation, we are scattering, when we make negative confessions about ourselves, we are scattering, and when we do not help others fulfill the plan and purpose of God for their lives, we are scattering God’s plan.   Mark 6:8 He commanded them to take nothing for the journey except a staff, no bag, no bread, no copper in their money belts but to wear sandals and not to put on 2 tunics . Jesus commissioned his disciples by imparting in them the authority to cast out demons and sending them out in pairs, he told them they were to carry no bag, no bread, no extra tunic, no money in their money belt, but to put on their sandals and carry a staff. I began to wonder why it was necessary for the disciples to carry a staff with them on the journey.   Ofcourse, we wouldn’t dare to put ourselves in the same class or compare ourselves with those who rate themselves so highly. They compare themselves to one another and make up their own standards to measure themselves by, and then they judge themselves by their own standards. What self-delusion .   Daniel 1:8 ‘ But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself .’ In the book of Daniel we see that Daniel and his friends Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego purposed in their heart that they would not defile themselves.   Proverbs 20:24 ‘ A man’s steps are of the Lord, how then can a man understand his own way?’   Jeremiah 10:23 ‘ It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps.’   These are very fascinating verses of scripture, it means that we are mere mortals and we do not even understand our own ways. Which brings me to the question, so who is directing your life?   Man doesn’t have the capacity to direct the course of his life by himself without help from the supernatural realm, so it is either the devil is directing one’s life or God is. If we are but mere mortals, and have this great limitation is it not wisdom to hold on tight to the Rock? The eternal Rock of ages, and King of all Kings, Jesus Christ. When we allow God to take control of our lives and yield ourselves to Him, He will direct us but if we are not deliberate about seeking Him and walking with Him fully the devil will be the one directing our lives.
