Gathering or Scattering?

Imagine a scenario where God is doing a work in a man’s life, by giving him counsel, or rebuke so that his life can ultimately change for the better, then someone comes along and frustrates God’s work by telling the man that what God is saying doesn’t really matter, and that he can carry on the way he is because no one is perfect. What this man has just done is scatter what God is doing. God is trying to put the man’s life back in order, but this other man is scattering what God is doing by sowing bad seeds through his advice and words.

Brethren, are we gathering? or are we scattering? When we make negative confessions about our nation, we are scattering, when we make negative confessions about ourselves, we are scattering, and when we do not help others fulfill the plan and purpose of God for their lives, we are scattering God’s plan.

If we are not in alignment with Jesus, then we are against Him, there is no in-between. Aligning with Him in our words and deeds. For example, in a court of law, the Lawyer is either for his client or not he is never in between. Are we helping God to advance the kingdom of God on earth? Are we encouraging our Pastors who labour in the vineyard?  Are we yielding to the Holy Spirit? when we do these things and let the Holy Spirit work in us, we gather people to Christ, and when we do not do them we are scattering God’s work. Matthew 12:30 ‘This is war and there is no neutral ground. If you’re not on my side, you’re the enemy; if you’re not helping you are making things worse.’  This is war, The Kingdom of God versus The Kingdom of darkness but whose side are you on?

John 15:16 ‘You didn’t choose me, but I’ve chosen and commissioned you to go into the world to bear fruit. And your fruit will last, because whatever you ask of my Father, for my sake, he will give it to you!’  We must be deliberate about gathering, no one gathers by mistake or by chance. In our confessions, our actions, and the way we relate with ourselves, because the life we live is the sermon we preach.

The Yoke of the Ox...

The oxford dictionary describes a yoke as a wooden crosspiece that is fastened over the necks of two animals and attached to the plough or cart they are to pull. It is used to join two oxen together so that there can be unity in what they are doing and they get the job done faster. The yoke is usually custom made and carved to fit the shape of the neck of the ox. When a farmer wants to train a younger ox, he does it with an older ox who understands what to do and is experienced, because the older ox has been allowed to grow to full maturity, so it is the best partner to be yoked with, it is reliable and it will teach the younger one how to pull, how to settle down under the yoke and how to be efficient. The younger ox is just supposed to submit to it and follow the older ox’s leading, but sometimes it is half in and half out of the yoke and not completely under it because it doesn’t want to be yoked (that is to submit and follow the older ox’s leading) and this leads to huge scars ...

And Daniel Purposed in His heart....

Daniel 1:8 ‘ But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself .’ In the book of Daniel we see that Daniel and his friends Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego purposed in their heart that they would not defile themselves. Daniel’s eye was set on this goal, he was not going to eat the King’s delicacies or drink the King’s wine. Daniel knew that God did not want him to eat the king’s food and wine, he knew that it was against God’s rules. Daniel and his friends had their eyes set like a flint, they were determined to please God, they were self-disciplined, not careless, not wishy-washy Christians. Why would this King’s food and wine defile Daniel and his friends? you may ask, it is because the food was unacceptable foods that were forbidden by Jewish laws. Some of the Babylonian dishes consisted of meat from sa...

REST IN GOD

Matthew 11:28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Hebrews 4:9-10 There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. There is a rest for the people of God, but many haven’t entered this rest. Jesus Christ is asking us to come to His rest and to find rest for our souls. Are we troubled? anxious? or fearful? God is calling us into His rest. Are we encumbered by the concerns of this life? E.g school fees, house rent, bills to pay, a troubled marriage, etc. Jesus is saying do your best and leave the rest to me. Worrying too much about all these things will not make much of a difference, instead, we must live and walk by faith, this is the only condition to entering the rest of the Lord. Knowing without a shadow of a doubt that of a t...
