Dont Get Punk'd

Have you ever been punk’d? if you were born after 2007, you probably don’t have a clue what I am referring to. Punk’d was one reality show I loved to watch. It was an American reality program that first aired in 2003, created by Ashton Kutcher and Jason Goldberg, with Kutcher serving as producer and host of the program. Ashton Kutcher would play pranks on celebrities and when they have been fooled, believing the lie and already going with the flow. He will tell whoever “You have been punk’d”! Being punk’d referred to being the victim of such a prank.

Now, imagine hearing those words from the Devil. I sincerely don’t wish this for anyone, not even my worst enemy (if there is such a person). But the sad truth is that this reality has played out in a lot of peoples after life. They died and Satan welcomed them laughing and mocking them saying “so you really believed all that lie!? Fool!”.

The devil is a liar, and very deceptive. John 8;44 ‘He was a killer from the very start. He couldn’t stand the truth because there wasn’t a shred of truth in him. When the liar speaks, he makes it up out of his lying nature and fills the world with lies.’ MSG

Unlike the TV show Punk’d, where everyone laughs at how such a great prank it was and get back to their lives again, when it is the devil that punk’d there is no going back it is final. Likewise, unlike the TV show, everybody is in on the prank so there is no warning or admonishment from anyone. But when the devil is the one doing the ‘punking’, God will always send people along the way to help, advise, pray, and warn the individual that is getting punk’d. So many times they would be given a sign, that they are being punk’d by the devil but they will not believe, but prefer to believe the false story , the lies and deception, when they could have walked away from the disaster awaiting them.

When you hear voices in your head like “you are worthless”, “you are a failure”, “you are not good enough”, “you are ugly”, “you are stupid”, “you will never be a wife”, “you will never be a mother” “you are never going to amount to anything” “just kill yourself and end it all”. You are being punk’d by the devil, because God will never tell you that about yourself , it is all a lie from the pit of hell. God will only tell you the truth. The truth is “you are beautiful”, “you are fearfully and wonderfully made”, “you are smart”, “you are destined for greatness”, “you are precious”, “you are so special”, “you are unique” “you are blessed and highly favoured”, “you are a daughter of the most high God”, “you are a gift to your generation”,  Jeremiah 29:11 “for I know the plans I have for you” , says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. NLT

The devil also uses that which is in the world to play pranks on us, 1 John 2:16 ‘For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father but are from this world.’ When we spend all our time and energy chasing money, and possessions and are ever too busy to spend time with God we are being p’unkd, even if we are in church doing activities, we need to spend quality time with God. But the devil deceives us into thinking it is not so important.

The Devil is a very bad devil and will do everything he can to get us punk’d. Don’t get Punk’d.

The Yoke of the Ox...

The oxford dictionary describes a yoke as a wooden crosspiece that is fastened over the necks of two animals and attached to the plough or cart they are to pull. It is used to join two oxen together so that there can be unity in what they are doing and they get the job done faster. The yoke is usually custom made and carved to fit the shape of the neck of the ox. When a farmer wants to train a younger ox, he does it with an older ox who understands what to do and is experienced, because the older ox has been allowed to grow to full maturity, so it is the best partner to be yoked with, it is reliable and it will teach the younger one how to pull, how to settle down under the yoke and how to be efficient. The younger ox is just supposed to submit to it and follow the older ox’s leading, but sometimes it is half in and half out of the yoke and not completely under it because it doesn’t want to be yoked (that is to submit and follow the older ox’s leading) and this leads to huge scars ...

And Daniel Purposed in His heart....

Daniel 1:8 ‘ But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself .’ In the book of Daniel we see that Daniel and his friends Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego purposed in their heart that they would not defile themselves. Daniel’s eye was set on this goal, he was not going to eat the King’s delicacies or drink the King’s wine. Daniel knew that God did not want him to eat the king’s food and wine, he knew that it was against God’s rules. Daniel and his friends had their eyes set like a flint, they were determined to please God, they were self-disciplined, not careless, not wishy-washy Christians. Why would this King’s food and wine defile Daniel and his friends? you may ask, it is because the food was unacceptable foods that were forbidden by Jewish laws. Some of the Babylonian dishes consisted of meat from sa...

REST IN GOD

Matthew 11:28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Hebrews 4:9-10 There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. There is a rest for the people of God, but many haven’t entered this rest. Jesus Christ is asking us to come to His rest and to find rest for our souls. Are we troubled? anxious? or fearful? God is calling us into His rest. Are we encumbered by the concerns of this life? E.g school fees, house rent, bills to pay, a troubled marriage, etc. Jesus is saying do your best and leave the rest to me. Worrying too much about all these things will not make much of a difference, instead, we must live and walk by faith, this is the only condition to entering the rest of the Lord. Knowing without a shadow of a doubt that of a t...
