The fourth face of
the living creatures described in Ezekiel 1 and Revelations 4 is the face of an
Eagle. Eagles are very majestic birds, they are swift, very fast and very sharp,
they are high flyers and they have very sharp vision. Eagles don’t operate on
the low level like other birds they fly very high and they do not mingle with
other types of birds. Spiritual eagles work together to bring about the purpose
of God here on earth
An eagle swiftly
swoops on its prey and takes it high up in the sky just as Jesus is swift in
dealing with his enemies. An eagle can fly across a lake in less than one
minute when searching for prey. The eagle is swift because it knows it doesn’t
have all the time, and if the eagle is swift it means that it is very difficult
to catch. Jesus came to the world and did his work swiftly, his 30 years here
on earth was swift but very effective, as spiritual eagles we also have to be swift
to hear and swift to do that which God has called us to do. If we must walk
with the Lord then we must be able to hear him, we cannot walk with God if we
cannot hear him, James 1; 19 Wherefore,
my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to
wrath:.
God’s word is also
swift like the speed of light, Psalm 147:15 ‘He sendeth forth his commandment upon earth: his word runneth very
swiftly’ The centurions daughter got healed instantly by the word of God,
Jesus spoke the word and she received her healing instantly Heb 4:12 For the word of God is
quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the
dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a
discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
The Lord’s judgment
also comes swiftly Malachi 3:5 ‘I will
draw near to you for judgment. I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers,
against the adulterers, against those who swear falsely, against those who
oppress the hired worker in his wages, the widow and the fatherless, against
those who thrust aside the sojourner, and do not fear me, says the Lord of hosts’. We must be careful to always make sure that
we are not in a place where we can receive the judgement of God because it
comes swiftly and often without remedy.
An eagle’s vision is very
keen, sharp, and swift, he sees everything from very high up, the eagle is able
to spot anything form that distance. Nothing is hidden from our Lord he sees everything
and knows everything his eyes are constantly watching us and he never sleeps. We
cannot fly low and see what is going on around us the only way to see what is
going on is when we are high up with Jesus, only then will our spiritual eyes
be open and we will begin to see and behold wondrous things, we will be able to
see the plans of the enemy and know how to war.
An eagle stirs up its
nest Deut 32: 11. “As an eagle that protects its nest, That flutters over its young, He spread out His wings
and took them, He carried them on His pinions.(AMP)
Eaglets are meant to fly, but they don’t know that. If an eaglet is separated at birth from its parents, it will never learn to fly. It will creep around in the dirt like a chicken. It might even look up and see other eagles soaring high above and never guess that it was meant to soar like that in the heavens. When the eaglet gets mature, change occurs! One day the mother eagle comes back from her journey to find food, but this time there’s no food in her beak. Instead, she hovers over the nest and shows the eaglets her wings and how to use it then she pushes the eaglet closer and closer to the edge of the nest and then down the cliff She does this deliberately, knowing fully well that unless she forces her little one out of its comfort zone, it will never take that leap of faith. It will never know what it means to soar. The eaglet continues to plummet down heading for sudden destruction but the mother eagle swiftly catches the eaglet and carries it back to its nest. Just like the mother eagle trains the eaglet to fly, the Lord allows us to go through trails and difficulties because he needs to teach us how to soar. He will never give us more than we can bear and even during those challenging times he is there waiting to catch us swiftly because he can never allow us to hit the ground.

Eagles are great, swift
and they soar, without the help of the Holy Spirit we cannot be spiritual
eagles. Jesus, just like the eagle is swift to answer all our prayers Isaiah
65: 24 And it shall
come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet
speaking, I will hear
