A HIGHER CALLING…..

The Urban dictionary defines a ‘Higher Calling’ this way “to act in service to a higher i.e. more noble cause, a greater good. Often indicating an action undertaken at the behest of a Higher Power, such as a supreme being or deity, or some conception of justice and the morally right; motivation for personal growth and/or individual sacrifice for the greater good”. As Christians    God is calling each and every one of us higher. We all exist at different levels of faith but we must not remain on the same level we have always been.  It doesn’t matter if you are a Pastor, Evangelist etc, are you going higher with God? Are you being transformed from glory to glory? Are you looking and behaving more like Jesus?

Philippians 3: 10- 14 10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Paul wrote this at the end of his life and yet he did not think he had yet attained, no matter what ecclesiastical position God has placed us we must be mindful not to think that we have attained. A higher calling is to know Jesus intimately, it is gaining the Power of his resurrection which comes in the person of the Holy Spirit who quickens us in every good work and makes  us operate in his divine power  even as gods here on earth. A higher calling is not about us but all about God, our lives becomes all about giving God all the glory and helping others to fulfil their divine destinies and being who God has called them to be. A higher calling means crucifying the flesh and totally walking in Gods divine counsel, will and purpose for our lives, it is giving up somethings we love for the purpose of the kingdom of God.

A higher calling is coming to a place where we count all things as dung, forgetting the past and pressing forward to attain those things that matter to God, it means aligning ourselves with the finished work of Jesus Christ and taking hold of that which he has already won for us over 2000 years ago. A higher calling entails that we be not weary of well doing but we should strengthen ourselves continually in the word of God Galatians 6: 9 9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

A higher calling is not just about where we will spend the rest of eternity , if you are genuinely born again that means if you have sincerely given your life to Jesus Christ then you are heaven bound, but many people have gone to heaven without fulfilling Gods divine mandate for their lives, which is the higher calling.

A higher calling may come in the form of a period of great trial and so even in the midst of the battle or in the wilderness experience God is bringing us to a higher and deeper walk with him because we cannot go higher until we have passed through the fire which is most times a test of our faith. A higher calling comes with divine revelation, when God reveals himself to us in a deeper way, we can never remain the same, that revelation completely transforms us and our relationship with God. A higher calling will impact on our relationships with our fellow brothers and sisters, God wants us to be at peace with all men but not just to be at peace but to have a loving and cordial relationship that will bring and give him glory. This will sometimes mean that we will be treated unfairly and cruelly, maligned, and even hated for no just cause.

As women I believe God is calling us higher to restore womanhood, to take us to the height that God originally placed us, to that height that he has ordained us to be, to become that creature he wonderfully and fearfully made with so much put in us, this is so much bigger than what our minds can comprehend. God is calling us higher to reveal to the world his most cherished creation, so Ladies Let’s Go Higher.

REST IN GOD

  Matthew 11:28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Hebrews 4:9-10 There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. There is a rest for the people of God, but many haven’t entered this rest. Jesus Christ is asking us to come to His rest and to find rest for our souls. Are we troubled? anxious? or fearful? God is calling us into His rest. Are we encumbered by the concerns of this life? E.g school fees, house rent, bills to pay, a troubled marriage, etc. Jesus is saying do your best and leave the rest to me. Worrying too much about all these things will not make much of a difference, instead, we must live and walk by faith, this is the only condition to entering the rest of the Lord. Worth more than rubies

  A dear customer of mine who has become a dear friend called me up one day and said she would like to make some items for her family members using the colours of their birthstones. These are precious stones that are associated with different months, for example, amethyst is the birthstone for those born in February, and diamond is the birthstone for those born in April. This would be one of the most exciting projects that I have ever embarked upon, also because before this time I didn’t know much about precious stones. I have seen and read about them, even in the bible but never given much attention to them by looking them up to see what they really look like. The only precious stone I am familiar with is the diamond, I guess this is because it’s the most popular, and the one most people wear.
