The Grain of Wheat

‘Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone but if it dies it produces much grain. John 12:24NKJV. When Jesus made this statement he was letting his disciples know that the time for his death had come, and that his death would lead to another chapter, his glorification which will reproduce many others like himself. Jesus did not live a selfish life because he did not refuse to go to the cross but he lived a sacrificial life by going to the cross so that he could achieve his eternal purpose. Jesus bore the cross and died because of you and I and through his death we have been redeemed by his blood. It is by this blood that we now have access to the Father, Jesus rose up on the third day and is alive forever more.

When we die to our own will we die with Jesus and resurrect with Jesus Christ a new life that is fully controlled by the Holy Spirit. We become new creatures and only then do we truly became who God has called us to be and that way our lives will bear fruit. John15:4-5 ‘Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me’   Matthew 7:19 ‘So every tree that does not produce good fruit is chopped down and thrown into fire’NLT. Galatians 2:20 ‘My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.’ When we die with Christ we are no longer bothered with the cares of this world but about how to go about our fathers business, looking unto him alone, trusting him completely and surrendering our will to him this way we then begin to truly live because we cannot truly live until we die.

John 12:25 ‘Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this world will keep it for eternity” NLT. If you try to save your life you will eventually lose it but if you give up your life in this world you will save it. I once read about a woman who kept her son away from God but eventually lost the child, anything that we try to save by keeping away from Gods original plan we will lose eventually. Whenever we decide not to show others love because we are afraid of being rejected we are trying to save ourselves the heartache, if we are scared to commit our lives totally to God because we are afraid God will ask us to give away our car or ask us to do things we do not want to do then we are trying to save ourselves from any type of discomfort. Whenever we try to save our reputations, our relationships, or our material possessions to the detriment of our complete obedience to God the bible says we will lose it.

When Jesus Christ begins to live in us, our old self is dead , our will is dead we now live entirely for him , he tells us what to do and we do it, we no longer do what we feel like doing  or what we wish to  do . Christ is the one living in us because we died with Christ. I once watched a Telemundo series about this rich man who died but he was reincarnated in a younger man’s body so people could see the young man physically but it was the old man in the young man’s body talking and doing everything in the young man’s body. The young man was dead but the old man was the one living inside of him. This is what happens to us when we die, Jesus Christ takes the wheel of our lives but unlike the dead young man who didn’t have a choice, we have a choice to either allow Jesus to take absolute control of our lives or not to, he doesn’t force us he gives us a freewill to choose. Its only when we choose death to self that we truly begin to live Gods intended life for us.

The Yoke of the Ox...

The oxford dictionary describes a yoke as a wooden crosspiece that is fastened over the necks of two animals and attached to the plough or cart they are to pull. It is used to join two oxen together so that there can be unity in what they are doing and they get the job done faster. The yoke is usually custom made and carved to fit the shape of the neck of the ox. When a farmer wants to train a younger ox, he does it with an older ox who understands what to do and is experienced, because the older ox has been allowed to grow to full maturity, so it is the best partner to be yoked with, it is reliable and it will teach the younger one how to pull, how to settle down under the yoke and how to be efficient. The younger ox is just supposed to submit to it and follow the older ox’s leading, but sometimes it is half in and half out of the yoke and not completely under it because it doesn’t want to be yoked (that is to submit and follow the older ox’s leading) and this leads to huge scars ...

And Daniel Purposed in His heart....

Daniel 1:8 ‘ But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself .’ In the book of Daniel we see that Daniel and his friends Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego purposed in their heart that they would not defile themselves. Daniel’s eye was set on this goal, he was not going to eat the King’s delicacies or drink the King’s wine. Daniel knew that God did not want him to eat the king’s food and wine, he knew that it was against God’s rules. Daniel and his friends had their eyes set like a flint, they were determined to please God, they were self-disciplined, not careless, not wishy-washy Christians. Why would this King’s food and wine defile Daniel and his friends? you may ask, it is because the food was unacceptable foods that were forbidden by Jewish laws. Some of the Babylonian dishes consisted of meat from sa...

REST IN GOD

Matthew 11:28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Hebrews 4:9-10 There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. There is a rest for the people of God, but many haven’t entered this rest. Jesus Christ is asking us to come to His rest and to find rest for our souls. Are we troubled? anxious? or fearful? God is calling us into His rest. Are we encumbered by the concerns of this life? E.g school fees, house rent, bills to pay, a troubled marriage, etc. Jesus is saying do your best and leave the rest to me. Worrying too much about all these things will not make much of a difference, instead, we must live and walk by faith, this is the only condition to entering the rest of the Lord. Knowing without a shadow of a doubt that of a t...
